Welcome

Welcome to my little spot on the world wide web, a place that I hope to let you into my world behind the lens. I have fallen head over heels in love with photography. I see it everywhere I go. My mind is always swirling and taking notes. It has become part of who I am. I want to make time stop through my images. Capture the things we just might otherwise forget.

I ♥ faces- Collages

This week on I heart faces the challenge is collages. There are so many ways to use a collage but one of my favorite ways is to tell a story. Individually these photos are fun but when you put the series together it allows you to be in that moment. The moment when my 4 year old was THRILLED to sink a putt. I love to capture moments...

Ten years! {Lawrence, KS couple's photographer}

These two celebrated ten years of marriage this month. They celebrated with a week long trip to Mexico, can I say jealous! But they have been together for twenty years. Eeek! That starts to make me feel old because I remember when they first started dating in high school. You see, Kim was one of my very first friends all the way back in 1st grade. Yep, we go that far back. Most all of my elementary day memories include Kim. I won't bore you with them...but it is fun to think back to the days of true youth. :) Well, fast forward many years and Kim and I are back in the same town (not our hometown) and do occasionally get to hang out. Not near as much as we should. Isn't that always the truth? She is now a successful attorney, always, always a smart thing! As for me, well, you know about me.

I was of course a thrilled when she asked me if I would take pictures of she and Jeff. I love to take pictures and it is always that much more fun when it is with friends. I am pretty laid back when it comes to shoots. Well, at least I think I am, others may disagree. Shoes kicked off. Laying on the ground. Even drank a beer with them last night. It was a prop but what the heck. I just go into my zone and love to absorb it all. Sometimes that means I am just waiting for their lead, trying to get the "real" stuff. That's when it gets good.

Enjoy your peek guys, just a few that jumped out at me. Thanks for letting me hang with you last night. Btw folks, we are going for part II on Saturday when they are all dressed up for a wedding.

Had to take advantage of the beautiful tulips!
Not only are they one of Kim's favorites they were the flowers in their wedding.

Quick change of clothes and scenery.

A toast to many more years!
Yes, those are the same glasses from their wedding.

Steamy...this is what I mean by when it gets real.
Not sure if they remembered I was there.
Love it.

Kim told me many times how non-photogenic they were.
You couldn't be more wrong.
You are absolutely stunning.

Ashlyn - {Lawrence, Kansas children's photographer}

Last Sunday was a big day for this young lady. She celebrated her first communion.
I was not at the service but have no doubt it was special. I did meet her afterwards though for some fun photos. I mean, how many times do you get all dolled up like this? She was a little miniature bride. But not only did she look gorgeous, the innocence that is present and the meaning of the day needed to be captured. Frozen in time.

This was her idea...she just wanted to run. Ok, sure!

Inside the church. The same church her parents were married in.

Here mama thought out every detail, even pretty nails.

Princess and the frog

Last night we rented princess and the frog. Have to admit I fell asleep in the middle, but seemed to be a cute movie. Fast forward to this evening. Emme and her friends found a frog in a window well. (poor frog) I guess she thought she would give the prince theory a try. Ummm...he is still a frog. Have to wait a few more years for your prince Miss Emme. But keep dreaming.

Little more like my french maid and the frog.
a dance outfit we got at a friends garage sale,
she has worn it ever since!

She said "it didn't taste like anything".
Gross.
Better watch for a wart to appear.

Easter

What an incredibly beautiful day yesterday was. Easter Sunday. While I can readily admit the morning wasn't so "beautiful", I am referring to my attitude and I will spare you the details. We all made it to church (even if we had to take two cars) to celebrate Easter and it's full and true meaning. Always fun to see such a packed house. The girls got a visit from the Easter bunny, too much candy and egg hunts.

We had some friends over for lunch after church it was YUMMY! I ate too much, I am still full. Our afternoon was spent with every single one of us taking a nap. Actually Josie didn't. She played quietly in her room for me, even though she could have benefited from one too.

The weather was so perfect last evening I insisted we get out of the house to enjoy it. The morning had been hectic and I hadn't really gotten any good pictures of the girls so it gave me an excuse to bring the camera along. We went to a park and let the girls roam while I snapped away. I tried to give a little direction but no one listened. This is ok most of the time and I can still get good pictures. But when I try to get one of the three of them together, that needs a little guidance. Why must it be so hard? Because it is mom behind the camera! Oh, and remember the one who didn't take a nap? I won't say any more than that.

Picture overload but we were having fun. Some of the first pictures from my new camera and my new lens. Can we say LOVE!

Hope you all had as good as an Easter as we did here!

Throwing rocks, what fun I tell ya. Oh and yes that is a pull-up you see on my potty trained little girl. Don't get me started.

This angle is thanks to my new lens. Smile.

The girls each got a webkinz from the Easter bunny.
Harper brought "Glassie" aka Lassie along.

Love, love, lovin' the evening sun.

Unsure where the squirrel went.

Sweet Emme girl and her bouquet of dandelions.

The rocks were coming towards me this time!

Happiest when hanging, climbing or balancing from something.
The gymnast in her.

Spring is here!!!!!!!!!

In all the rocks in this little garden Josie picked one up and someone had written on it.
Love it.
Perfect end to an 'almost' perfect day.
